Glazes-Jungle Gems

Fine Art Glazed Ceramics Home Decor

The following glazes are usually in stock for our Pensacola area customers. (Beginning in January) It can take up to a week to get the glaze if it is not in stock. WE DO NOT FIRE ITEMS but Mud Hut can fire them for you.

Please note your screen resolution and color settings may dramatically alter the color of the images. The samples tiles are FLAT SURFACED pieces, the crystals will flow downward as the surface curves, such as with vases. Regardless, identical results will never occur on any two pieces.

There are no returns on glazes or custom orders. We are not responsible for your interpretation of a glaze or if you improperly identify which one you want, or if you change your mind and we've already purchased your glaze. See the discussions (below the glaze samples, bottom of page) which clarify some of the glaze colors.

Discussion: Row 1 & 2- Pistachio is very popular as a bright sour apple green glaze. Alligator has a slightly raised texture, just like the real dude. Although they look similar here, Woodland Fantasy is more olive green based while Peacock Green has bluer tones- but still overall green. The rest of row 2 is very true to color (in our monitor resolution) and Mocha Marble is ultra popular. It can have more blue chips in it than shown here.

Discussion: Row 3 & 4-Sand Petal background is hard to describe- it is a gray/brown, very nondescript. The chips are bright in color, as with Tiger Lily (a very popular glaze for oranges and yellow.) Peppermint Twist is a gorgeous pink, red, and white.

Discussion: Row 5 & 6-Kaleidoscope chips are also bright in color. Strawberry Sundae is more of a crimson than a red (NOT the color of strawberries) Floral Fantasy purple is very dark and the chips are moderately bright and not neon. Masquerade is a blackish-brown background, and Obsidian is awesome as a black with almost fungus like ridges- very subtle- of light green/gray. If you're painting for a guy, consider obsidian- they always pick it in our studio (or Black Opal.)
